Laundry Rooms

The laundry...a never ending process, in my house anyway! The laundry room is often overlooked. I admit I am one of the guilty for this injustice. As a Kitchen & Bath Designer I often advise clients to put more of their budget into the common areas...the kitchen! Kitchens are where families gather and where a lot of us entertain. It never fails, everyone congregates in the kitchen. And since we don't entertain in our laundry rooms (and I haven't had any of my guests volunteer to do it) we don't put as much into that space. I know I should spend a lot more of my time there and maybe I would if I had a laundry room that looked like one of these...hmmmm, remodel?

Beautiful Colors

A friend of mine in Kalona has a small floral shop and I recently had the opportunity to help her out. I set up the table decor & flowers for a wedding in Muscatine. I loved these colors so much I wanted to share the brides bouquet with you...

The Cape in the Midwest

I have the honor of working with Randy & Kristen Rempel of Rempel Construction on their parade home each year. I look forward to every one as they give me complete freedom in the kitchen and baths with the space planning and design. The home featured below was the 2008 Parade Home.

The details in this house are beautiful! In the dining area notice the coffered ceiling and the columns built by Randy himself. There is also wainscot around the dining area which is a little hard to see in this picture but still an extra detail that sets this room apart. (Furnishings in this home were provided by Dwell in Coralville.)

The entertainment center is another example of the craftsmanship Randy puts into his homes. Notice the TV area above the fireplace, it can be concealed by the paneling when not in use.

Old Victorian Lost...

I find this to be such a tragedy! This old Victorian home is 100+ years old and is fading fast. At one time it was a successful business. I talked to a Realtor that said she did some research and it needs about $300,000.00 worth of repairs. It breaks my heart! My guess it is the oldest home still in the community.

Beautiful old details like these stained glass windows.

Beautiful Landscaping

Posted by Picasa

I love the landscaping of this home! I came across it in Architectural Digest March 2007 and instantly wanted my yard to look the same! Of course I had to have pictures on my computer so I could set it as my background and hold onto hope that someday I might have at least small elements of it!

My favorite part of this landscaping is the stones. I love the way they provide a meandering stairway down to the pond. Another element I love is how they naturally came off the sides of those stairs and made natural planting areas.

In the Beginning....

Here I am at 6am in the morning. I have been wanting to start a blog about all the things I love but could not think of a name and if I did...it was taken! So as I am surfing my favorite blogs this morning I was thinking about this blog again! As I am walking to the coffee pot I start to think of names again. "A little coffee with your cream"...no...wait a minute! I am ALWAYS up way before everyone else because that is the only time I can get my quiet time! Those moments that are few and far between when you are a mother of 5! So hence the name!

My goal with this blog is to post things that are my passion. I am an Interior Designer working in kitchen & bath. I love cabinets but there is so much more that I love! One of them is architecture! So you may see a few house on here as well.
I am so excited to get started! I will start posting soon!
